I have seen the terms "Day-Of Coordinator" and "Month-Of Coordinator" being thrown around and I never really knew the differences between them. To enlighten myself and hopefully inform Brides-To-Be who might be considering hiring a Wedding Coordinator, I've asked my good friend Allie of Polka Dot Events to explain how these two terms differentiate. Here's what Allie shared:
"Here's the good news - there's no wrong decision here! A Month-of or a Day-of Coordinator is always a great choice, to take the stress off of you and your loved ones on the big day. A lot of our clients make the choice based off of how much help they have from family members, how busy their job is, and of course how much they have budgeted for a Coordinator.

1) A professional to comb through all of the details of the wedding weekend with you a month in advance, to see if there are any problems to fix and holes to fill. And then, he or she will do it for you!
Speaking for Polka Dot Events ourselves, we take over after that meeting and make sure that everything you may have forgotten or didn't know about is taken care of. Here are a few examples of common forgotten items that we have done for clients: - Booking car or bus services- Hiring ceremony or cocktail hour music - Ordering Day of Stationery (table numbers, escort cards, etc) - Finding Hair and Makeup artists for bridesmaids - Planning After Parties or Welcome Dinners - Creating floor plans and assisting with seating charts, etc.
2) A logistics expert to create your timeline and think through where every guest, wedding party member, and
A wedding day is a production of sorts, and we know how to make it run smoothly by knowing who is doing what at all times. We create this timeline collaboratively with you, your venue/caterer, photographer, and any other important vendors, so that everyone has the time they need and you don't have to worry about things like when to do your hair and makeup and fit all of your photos in!
3) A warm personality who already has a relationship with your important family and wedding party members by the time the wedding day rolls around. When you hire a Month-of Coordinator, chances are at some point he or she will speak to your mom, dad, Maid of Honor, grandma, dog, or whoever during the planning process! We help out with their questions too, so by the time the wedding day comes they trust us to tell them where to go
