10 minutes into our first meeting, Erin and I knew that we were a great fit to work together for her wedding photography. Erin came with a wedding binder sectioned into different categories (photographer, venue, florist, etc.), just as how I would organize my wedding folder into different segments of the day. Her future mom-in-law came along, and I thought that was very sweet. I walked away from our meeting knowing instantly that we would get along so well preparing for Erin’s big day.

We decided to have Erin and Charlie’s engagement session in Charlotte, NC because that was where it all began for them. It worked out perfectly for me, as I was traveling down to Charleston, SC for another of my brides. We met up at Kindred, a beautiful American classic restaurant where Erin and Charlie love to pay visits. They are also big foodies who love to try out new restaurants, so having some photos taken at a restaurant also reflects their relationship and how they like to spend time as a couple. We took a stroll around Davidson, a little town near where they live, and were later joined by Daisy, their adorable English setter puppy. Read on for more of their story.

When They First Met

Erin: “I was impressed with how put together he looked. He had just left work, so he was in a suit. Luckily, I wasn’t too underdressed myself. Our conversation was easy and we decided on a second Halloween date after the first 15 minutes.”

Charlie: “I thought she was pretty, intelligent, and personable. I knew I wanted to get to know her better and wanted to ask her out again.”

What They Love About Each Other

Erin: “His easy going and level headed temperament.”

Charlie: “I like that she accepts me for who I am – and I can completely be myself around her. She loves and supports me no matter what. I am excited to marry my best friend.”

The Proposal

Erin: “The first weekend in November Charlie and I traveled to Asheville, North Carolina to celebrate his Aunt Patti’s 60thbirthday with his immediate and extended family. His parents rented a mountain home to enjoy a fun filled weekend together. Little did I know it was also to celebrate our engagement! Charlie and I headed to Asheville on Friday morning and got to the house before anyone else. We went inside and Charlie ask me to marry him on the porch overlooking the beautiful North Carolina mountains. After I got over the shock, I said yes! That night Charlie promised me no more surprises, but he had one more up his sleeve! The next day my parents surprised me at the house for brunch. We wrapped up the perfect weekend with a candle light tour of the Biltmore and dinner at the Village Hotel.”
