Pamela first reached out to me for her engagement session that she wanted to do on Elfreth’s Alley. When we talked on the phone to plan out the engagement photos, we found out that we live across the street from each other! So when Pamela reached out to me again for her destination wedding that was going to take place at The Gadsden House in Charleston, needless to say, I was ecstatic! Because we live so close to each other, we even had a chance to have dinner together in my home and it was such a wonderful way to get to know both Pamela and Bob. I felt like spending time with friends and of course got even more excited for their spring wedding in Charleston. Even after the wedding, Pamela and I are still in touch. We had a great time meeting at Starbucks and preparing the questionnaire for Bridal Musings’ feature of her wedding. I truly enjoy spending time with my clients and am thrilled for all the friendships that come out of my little photography business.

The inspiration for Pamela & Bob’s wedding came from a few of the Pamela’s favorite elements: palm fronts, blue & white china, woven basket and mercury glass. Pamela and Bob are from the Philadelphia area but wanted to have a destination wedding that would not be too far away for their family and friends to attend. They decided on Charleston, SC for its charming architecture and beautiful climate.

Elements of the palmetto tree that is so emblematic of the State of South Carolina were woven throughout the wedding, from the bridal bouquet, the design of the Groom’s tie, to the altar décor and reception details. The cobalt blue and white porcelain vases added delightful interest to the center pieces. Roadside Blooms did a wonderfully amazing job of adding variation to the tablescapes – no one centerpiece was like another. Luke Wilson Events created a brilliant reception layout that used a lounge area as a median to gracefully separate the dance floor from the dining space but at the same time open up a comfortable gathering field for the wedding guests. The wedding program was cleverly folded up into paper fortune tellers, only they told the guests everything that would unfold over the course of the wedding. The wedding favors – mini muslin bags of South Carolina grits – were hand-filled by the Bride, a beautiful gesture that truly showed her gratitude to all her guests.
